TAPS program helps families grieve
Senior Airmen Afton Thornton and Sara Skoog, Air Force Honor Guard members, work with children attending the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors camp, the two were mentors for the children - helping them have fun by playing games, as well as talking to them during grief sessions about the loss of their loved one. Held over Memorial Day weekend, TAPS is a three-day camp children and family members who have lost a loved one in military service can attend that aims to help teach families how to grieve, as well as share their stories and make friends who share their loss.
