Drill Team performs at Randolph
A United States Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team member places his M-1 Garand rifle with fixed bayonet in the inspection line before a performance at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas Nov. 2. The Drill Team members spin this rifle, weighing in excess of 11 pounds, up to 40 miles per hour mere inches from their bodies, making their job extremely dangerous. To prevent any injuries, each weapon is inspected before every performance to make sure it is in proper working condition. The Drill Team tours worldwide representing all Airmen while showcasing Air Force precision and professionalism and personifying the integrity, discipline, and teamwork of every Airman and every Air Force mission. During the Air Force Honor Guard's 60-year history, their traveling component, the Drill Team, has performed in every state of the union and many countries abroad.
