Behind the scenes of the Air Force 60th Tattoo
BOLLING AFB, D.C. -- Airmen from the Air Force Honor Guard present the colors during the playing of the national anthem during the 60th Anniversary Air Force Tattoo dress rehearsal Sept. 22. The military tattoo, which is held annually at Bolling, highlights troop excellence and readiness. The tattoo dates back to the mid-17th century British Army deployment to the Netherlands in which drummers were sent from the garrison to the towns at 9:30 each night to let soldiers know it was time to return to the fort.
