Father's Mugshot and Son's biographical photo
Michael Powell's July 23, 1961 mugshot following his arrest during the Freedom Rides of 1961 alongside his son, Lt. Col. Raymond Powell's official Air Force biographical photo are displayed here. The two photos connect a father and son over 50 years. The mugshot was taken by Jackson City, Miss., police following Michael's arrest for violating segergated sections in a train station. His son relinquished command of The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard July 12, 2011, and the arrest was made 50 years ago, almost to the day.
