Air Force Honor Guard to celebrate 60 years 'on the marks'

All ceremonial guardsmen, past and present, are invited to join the United States Air Force Honor Guard in celebrating 60 years "on the marks" Aug. 29-31 at Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C. Events will include an ice breaker, a picnic and dinner ball, and closing ceremonies featuring an exhibition of honor guard precision. A detailed breakdown of each event can be found below. Friday, Aug. 29 - Ice breaker, 6:30 p.m., Sheraton Hotel, Arlington, Va.

Saturday, Aug. 30 - Picnic, 10 a.m., Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.
Lunch will begin at 10 a.m. with an introduction and welcome from the Air Force Honor Guard commander, Lt. Col. Anthony Taylor. The picnic includes a burger burn, music and games for children and a dunk tank. Tours of the campus will be held at 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Air Force Honor Guard memorabilia will also be available for purchase from the booster club, including flight memorabilia.

In addition to the picnic festivities, the Air Force Honor Guard will be celebrating a momentous occasion with a ground-breaking for the new ceremonial guardsmen statue.

Saturday, Aug. 30 - Celebration ball, 6 p.m., Sheraton Hotel, Arlington, Va.
Social hour will begin at 6 p.m., followed by dinner and dancing. The Air Force Band's Strolling Strings will provide entertainment during dinner, with a DJ providing the music afterwards. Formal dress is requested of civilians.

Sunday, Aug. 31 - Social breakfast, 7 a.m., Sheraton Hotel, Arlington, Va.

Sunday, Aug. 31 - Exhibition, 9:30 a.m., Air Force Memorial, Arlington, Va.
Closing ceremonies will allow current ceremonial guardsmen to showcase the Air Force Honor Guard's capabilities with a 16-man drill team performance, pass in review and wreath-laying.
