FIRST LIEUTENANT MICHAEL R. LEMORIE

1st Lt. Michael R. Lemorie is the flight commander, U.S. Air Force Honor Guard Drill Team, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington D.C. He leads the Air Force's elite 24-member Drill Team in the execution of Headquarters Air Force, Department of Defense, and international ceremonies, briefing Air Force senior leaders, and acting as recruiting tool for the Air Force. Additionally, he functions as an Honor Guard Officer in Charge and Commander of Troops for funerals in Arlington National Cemetery and Air Force and Joint Service parades and ceremonies. Finally, Lemorie composes and updates flight policies, operating instructions, and manuals ensuring legacy processes are established.

Lieutenant Lemorie grew up in Howell, Mich. He graduated in 1998 with a Bachelor of Music Performance in Percussion, and a Bachelor of Music Education from Hope College, Holland, Mich. In 2002, he completed a Master of Music Performance in Orchestral Conducting degree from Ball State University, Ind. He enlisted in the Air Force in November 2002. Lemorie began his Air Force career as a vehicle operator and spent two years as a 52nd Fighter Wing protocol specialist. During his enlisted service, He was a Distinguished Graduate from the Airman Leadership School as well as the recipient of the Pitsenbarger Airman Leadership Award. He completed over six years of enlisted service before commissioning as a second lieutenant through the Officer Training School program where he also graduated as a distinguished graduate and was the recipient of the Colonel Dick Scobee Leadership Award.
