MASTER SERGEANT MATTHEW E. LEWIS Master Sergeant Matthew E. Lewis is the Drill Team Superintendent for the United States Air Force Honor Guard, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, District of Columbia. He leads more than 20 Airmen assigned to the United States Air Force Honor Guard's Drill Team in the execution of Headquarters Air Force, Department of Defense, and international ceremonies, briefing Air Force senior leaders, and acting as recruiting retaining, and inspiring tool for the Air Force. Additionally, he functions as an Honor Guard Noncommissioned Officer in Charge and Commander of Troops for funerals in Arlington National Cemetery and Air Force and Joint Service parades and ceremonies. Finally, he composes and updates Drill Team policies, operating instructions, and manuals ensuring legacy processes are established. Sergeant Lewis grew up in Middletown, Maryland and enlisted in the Air Force in June 1998. While serving in the Cyber Systems Operations career field, he served at the White House Communications Agency and the 5th Combat Communications Group and has deployed in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Sergeant Lewis is married to Master Sergeant Renee Lewis.
